Furuno to test GNSS timing fallback and recovery at Jammertest 2026

10 Sec Scan

Furuno plans to test its upcoming GF-100 timing device against jamming and spoofing at Jammertest 2026 in Norway, assessing whether it rejects compromised satellite signals, maintains timing independently and recovers after interference.

What Changed

Furuno is moving from earlier GT-100 receiver evaluations to field testing its forthcoming GF-100 timing device. The planned evaluation covers rejecting abnormal signals, switching to oscillator-based holdover and recovering after interference ends.

The Signal

Telecommunications, finance and power grids depend on accurate timing, making continuity during GNSS interference an operational concern. These tests could provide evidence about fallback and recovery behavior, but the announcement does not establish how accurately or for how long the device maintains timing without GNSS.

60 Sec Understand

Furuno will use Jammertest 2026, scheduled for September 14–18 in Andøya, Norway, to evaluate its GF-100 Series dual-band GNSS disciplined oscillator ahead of a planned November release. The tests extend earlier evaluations of its GT-100 receiver into assessing signal rejection, timing continuity and recovery under outdoor interference conditions. The GF-100 combines L1/L5 reception, abnormal-signal exclusion and GNSS signal authentication. When interference affects all bands, its Proactive Holdover function is designed to disconnect from satellite signals and maintain time and frequency outputs using an internal oscillator. The operational question is whether those transitions work reliably under realistic jamming and spoofing scenarios—not simply whether interference can be detected. Furuno will also assess QZSS signals under interference for Japan’s Cabinet Office. The announcement describes planned testing and manufacturer-stated capabilities; it provides no 2026 results or measured holdover performance.
