FARO INSIGHT pairs new laser scanners with connected reality capture workflows
10 Sec Scan
FARO INSIGHT introduced two terrestrial laser scanners and a mobile reality capture package, alongside announced software updates and integrations connecting field capture, point cloud processing, cloud collaboration and as-built BIM delivery.
What Changed
FARO INSIGHT added Focus i.1, Focus i.1 X and the Rovi i.1 capture package to its portfolio. It also announced a new subscription model and software integrations intended to connect scanning more directly with processing, collaboration and BIM delivery.
The Signal
For teams documenting buildings, infrastructure and confined spaces, the announced workflows could reduce manual transfers between capture and downstream project tools. Buyers still need to validate performance claims and distinguish current capabilities from forthcoming integrations.
60 Sec Understand
FARO INSIGHT is expanding both its scanning hardware and the workflows that turn captured data into project deliverables. The new Focus i.1 and i.1 X terrestrial scanners offer claimed object accuracy up to 0.9 mm; the i.1 X includes a mountable GNSS/RTK receiver and a 400-meter scanning range. Developed with Manifold Tech limited, Rovi i.1 packages a mobile capture device with a software subscription connecting Sphere XG and SCENE. The announcement also outlines SCENE 2027, with promised faster point cloud generation and an AI filter for glass and mirror reflections. Planned connections include Flyability drone-data processing and an in-platform scan-to-BIM service from Integrated Projects. The practical direction is tighter linkage between field measurements, processing and deliverables. However, the source is a vendor press release: performance gains are not independently demonstrated, and several workflow additions remain forthcoming.
